Event Assistant

Friends of South Africa is seeking enthusiastic and community-minded volunteers to support our social events and help create a welcoming, inclusive experience for all attendees.

As part of our Events Support team, you’ll play an important role in bringing people together and helping our events run smoothly in a relaxed and friendly environment.
Our leading upcoming event is a community social evening in Manly on 5 September.

**Key duties**

- Assisting with chosen aspects of the event such as planning, coordination, promotion, set-up and pack-down
- Welcoming and greeting guests on arrival
- Supporting sign-in or registration activities
- Helping create a warm, inclusive, and friendly atmosphere
- Assisting with general event tasks as needed on the day
- Working as part of a team to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for everyone

**Skills and experience**
You don’t need prior event experience – we welcome people of all backgrounds. We’re looking for volunteers who are:

- Friendly, approachable, and inclusive
- Reliable and able to commit to the event timeframe
- Comfortable interacting with a diverse range of people
- Team-oriented and willing to help where needed
- Positive, respectful, and community-focused

A genuine interest in connecting with others and contributing to a welcoming community is most important.
