Quantum Engineer

• Operating and maintaining cryogenic dilution refrigerator systems for advanced experiments on silicon quantum processors
• Designing and executing experiments to characterise processor performance, from low-level device stability measurements through to algorithmic benchmarking of scaled processors
• Performing low-noise qubit measurements and refining qubit control and readout methods for atom spin qubit architectures
• Developing and maintaining measurement automation and data analysis code
• Analysing complex experimental datasets and extracting clear performance metrics against defined requirements
• Driving project-based development of new device designs and novel measurement capabilities
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams across atomic fabrication, cleanroom, theory, hardware and software to ensure alignment on project goals and deliverables
• Maintaining and supporting specialised laboratory and RF measurement equipment
• Contributing to technical strategy and innovation by proposing and implementing new ideas and solutions
• Monitoring industry trends and emerging technologies in quantum computing and quantum error correction, and documenting experimental findings in technical reports Qualification & experience
• Bachelor's, Honours or Master's degree in physics, quantum engineering, electrical engineering or a related discipline
• Demonstrated experience measuring multi-qubit or equivalent quantum devices in academic or industrial environments
• Proficiency in coding using Python
• Proven ability to conduct independent experimental research and drive projects to completion
• Highly organised and detail-oriented, with the ability to maintain a strategic perspective in a dynamic start-up environment
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
• Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams with shared ownership of outcomes
• Desirable: a PhD in physics, quantum engineering, electrical engineering or a related discipline; a strong background in RF measurement techniques and microwave engineering; and hands-on experience setting up and operating cryogenic dilution refrigerator systems
