East Coast Car Rentals is one of Australia's established car rental brands, with 14 locations across the country. Behind the scenes, we're investing heavily in technology and building modern platforms in-house on AWS. It's an exciting time to join our software engineering team as we continue to develop products that support our customers, operations and future growth.

We're looking for a Frontend Developer who enjoys building clean, scalable user experiences and takes pride in writing high-quality code. Working closely with the Head of Software Engineering and collaborating with backend developers, you'll play a key role in designing, developing and improving the applications our customers and staff use every day.

What you'll do

• Build and maintain modern web applications using Vue 3, Next.js, React and TypeScript.

• Develop reusable components and frontend frameworks that improve consistency and speed across our products.

• Integrate APIs and collaborate closely with backend developers to deliver reliable, scalable features.

• Participate in code reviews and contribute to frontend development standards and best practices.

• Work on responsive user interfaces that perform well across desktop and mobile devices.

• Help plan and deliver new technology initiatives and customer-facing digital experiences.

• Contribute to application performance, usability, accessibility and maintainability.

• Identify opportunities to improve development workflows, tooling and automation.

What you'll bring

• Commercial experience in a Frontend Developer role within a collaborative software development environment.

• Strong experience with Vue 3 (Composition API).

• Experience with Next.js and React.

• Solid JavaScript and TypeScript skills.

• Experience integrating REST APIs and working with backend services.

• Strong understanding of responsive design, component architecture and modern CSS practices.

• Experience using Git, pull requests and code review processes.

• A problem-solving mindset and commitment to building maintainable, high-quality software.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a small, agile team.

Nice to have

• React Native development experience.

• Exposure to testing frameworks such as Vitest, Cypress or Playwright.

• Experience with Tailwind CSS.

• Familiarity with AWS services such as S3 and CloudFront.

• Experience working with Jira and Bitbucket.

• Interest in modern AI-powered development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor or Claude.

• Understanding of SEO and emerging AI search optimisation practices.

• Features are delivered on time and meet sprint commitments.

• Components are built once and reused across applications rather than duplicated.

• API integration challenges are identified early and resolved collaboratively.

• New releases are stable, reliable and minimise regressions.

• Documentation remains current and enables effective team collaboration.

• Code reviews improve quality while supporting knowledge sharing across the team.
