About the role
Cragsted Race Engines is seeking an Engine Performance Engineer to join our team.
We are looking for a qualified engineer with a passion for high-performance engines, motorsport, and technical excellence. In this role, you will be responsible for analysing, modelling, and reporting on the technical performance of manufacturer race engines across the Supercars Championship, while supporting a variety of additional engineering and development activities as required.
This is an exciting opportunity to work at the highest levels of Australian motorsport and contribute directly to race-winning performance.
Key Responsibilites
Analyse engine performance data and identify opportunities for improvement.
Develop engineering models and simulations to support performance optimisation.
Prepare technical reports and recommendations for manufacturers and stakeholders.
Support ongoing engine development, validation, and reliability programs.
Collaborate with teams across the Supercars paddock and manufacturer networks.
Undertake additional engineering and technical projects as required.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
Engineering degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Electrical, or a related discipline (Bachelor's degree required; postgraduate qualifications advantageous).
Strong understanding of thermodynamics, control systems, and mechanical engineering fundamentals.
Advanced knowledge of MATLAB/Simulink.
Experience with MoTeC Pro Analysis Suite or other motorsport data analysis software (e.g. RaceStudio, WinTAX).
Competency in CAD software, preferably SolidWorks (experience with equivalent platforms will be considered).
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain professional relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and adapt to changing requirements.
Willingness and ability to travel regularly.
Genuine interest in specialising in powertrain and engine performance engineering.
Desirable Experience & Skills
Two or more years' experience in motorsport engineering.
Understanding of vehicle dynamics and powertrain system interactions.
Experience with motorsport ECU systems and calibration tools.
Knowledge of engine subsystems, including valvetrain dynamics, combustion analysis, fuelling systems, and engine controls.
Experience working in high-performance automotive or race engine environments.
An immediate start is available, with commencement in the coming weeks also considered.
