Mortgage Broker

About the role

This is a client-facing mortgage broker role for someone who thrives on building trusted networks, generating referrals and helping clients achieve strong lending outcomes. As Mortgage Broker, you'll develop and manage a high-quality network of clients and referral partners, convert opportunities into sustainable mortgage business and guide clients through tailored lending solutions from initial conversation to settlement and beyond. You'll have the autonomy to build your pipeline and deepen relationships, while being accountable for client experience, compliant lending practices and measurable growth.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain a strong network of prospective and existing mortgage clients across Tasmania

• Develop trusted referral relationships with accountants, real estate professionals, financial advisers, legal firms, builders and local business networks

• Generate and qualify new lending opportunities through proactive networking, community engagement, introductions and referrals

• Understand each client's goals and recommend suitable residential and investment lending solutions from a broad lender panel

• Own the client relationship from initial enquiry through application, approval, settlement and ongoing review

• Maintain a disciplined pipeline, follow up consistently and convert quality opportunities into settled loans

• Provide clear, timely communication to clients, lenders, referral partners and internal support teams

• Deepen existing client relationships through regular reviews, retention activity and relevant referral opportunities

• Represent the business at industry, community and professional networking events across metropolitan and regional Tasmania

• Maintain accurate records and uphold responsible lending, compliance, privacy and professional standards

About you

• Demonstrated experience in mortgage lending, mortgage broking, banking or a closely related client-facing financial services role

• A proven ability to build client and referral networks and generate sustainable new business

• Strong knowledge of residential lending, lender policies and the mortgage process from enquiry to settlement

• Excellent relationship management, networking, communication and negotiation skills

• Commercial acumen and confidence managing a pipeline against agreed conversion and settlement targets

• A strong commitment to responsible lending, compliance, accurate record keeping and positive client outcomes

• Certificate IV and Diploma in Mortgage Broking
