The Role:

At St Basil's Homes (SA), we are seeking a dedicated Engagement and Wellbeing Team Member to join our Wellbeing team across our Croydon Park and St Peter's sites.

In this role, you will support residents to live well by creating meaningful moments of connection, belonging, enjoyment and meaningful in everyday life. With the right blend of creativity, warmth and empathy, you will help residents feel known, included and valued, including residents, and meaning living with dementia.

What you’ll do and be responsible for:

As an Engagement and Wellbeing Team Member, you will support individual and group experiences that contribute to residents' physical, intellectual, emotional, cultural, spiritual and social wellbeing. You will take time to know each resident as a person, understand what matters to them, and help create opportunities for connection, purpose and enjoyment in daily life.

• Assist the Engagement and Wellbeing Team Lead and team members with planning, setting up and running activities for residents.
• Build genuine relationships with residents by taking time to understand their life stories, strengths, interests, routines, cultural background and what brings meaning to their day.
• Actively support the delivery of a diverse and inclusive program that enables residents of all abilities to participate in ways that are meaningful, comfortable and enjoyable for them.
• Foster positive relationships with residents, families, team members and community partners to support connection, belonging and continuity in each resident's life.
• Engage in meetings and activity planning as needed.
• Support experiences that reflect residents' cultural, spiritual and personal preferences, including opportunities to maintain relationships, routines, interests and community connections where possible.
• Ensure complete and timely documentation of resident participation and engagement
• Utilise your experience in dementia care to make a significant impact.

What you’ll need to succeed:

• Experience supporting people living with dementia in an aged care setting, with an understanding of communication, inclusion, choice and meaningful engagement.
• Ability to work effectively within a team, bringing a bubbly and vibrant energy.
• Strong communication skills to connect with residents and team members alike.
• Creativity and empathy in running engaging activities.
• Ability to observe, understand and respond to residents' changing interests, abilities and engagement needs, supporting meaningful participation in daily life.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.
• Demonstrate empathy, kindness and respect, with a person-led approach that supports residents to make choices, maintain identity and feel connected in their home.

It would be helpful if you had (but is not essential to apply for the role):

• Certificate III or IV in Aged Care, Leisure and Health, or related fields.
• Prior experience as a lifestyle assistant or similar role in aged care.
• Training or certification specific to dementia care.
• Understanding or experience of the Aged Care sector.
• A current National Police Certificate (or willingness to apply
