About the role
Upwards Living are seeking experienced and compassionate Support Workers to provide one-on-one support to a high-needs participant in Eastwood, primarily within the client's home. This role is ideal for someone who is patient, reliable, and passionate about empowering people to live more independently and participate actively in their community. The successful applicant must be able to speak and understand Chinese to ensure effective communication and build a strong, trusting relationship with both the participant and their family. As the participant is non-verbal, experience supporting individuals with complex communication needs and the ability to understand non-verbal cues will be highly regarded.
The position involves supporting the participant with a range of daily living activities, including personal care, feeding assistance, and implementing routines that promote wellbeing and independence. You will play an important role in helping the client develop daily living skills, build confidence, and achieve their individual goals in a supportive and person-centred environment.
A key aspect of this role is assisting the participant with community access and social participation. You will support the participant to engage in activities within the community, maintain social connections, and participate in meaningful experiences that enhance their quality of life while ensuring their safety and comfort at all times.
Shifts are from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM, with regular availability required on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and additional shifts available as needed. Previous experience supporting participants with high or complex support needs is essential. We are looking for someone who demonstrates strong communication skills, a positive attitude, flexibility, and a genuine commitment to providing high-quality care and support.
