Adventure Playground Worker

• Salary Range Band 3 $72,665 - $76,778 plus 12% Super (pro-rata)
• 1 x Permanent part time role (15 hours per week)
• This role will operate programs in different community settings including Adventure Playgrounds sites (St Kilda and South Melbourne locations).

About the Organisation 

The City of Port Phillip is an inner-city council with around 1000 employees who deliver more than 100 programs and services to our residents, businesses, and visitors. These range from childcare and immunisations, to libraries, management of parks and open space, rubbish collection, road maintenance and more. About the Role

As part of the Middle Years team, you will support the delivery of high-quality Adventure Playground programs that promote play, connection, wellbeing and positive development for children aged 5 to 12 years.

This position is based across two locations, St Kilda and South Melbourne. Due to the redevelopment of the St Kilda Adventure Playground, programs will operate from the Cora Graves Community Centre until approximately May 2027. 

Key responsibilities include:

• Planning, delivering and evaluating engaging programs, activities and events for children and families.
• Supporting Adventure Playground operations and facilitating safe, challenging and developmentally appropriate play experiences.
• Building positive relationships with children, families and the wider community through proactive engagement and participation.
• Working in accordance with Child Safe Standards and industry best practice to ensure the safety, wellbeing, dignity and inclusion of all participants.
• Contributing to a collaborative team environment and supporting programs across multiple sites as required.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working directly with children, values play-based learning and engagement, and thrives in a dynamic community setting.

The successful candidate will play an important role in creating safe, inclusive and engaging recreation opportunities for children and families across the City of Port Phillip

Skills and Experience 

• A qualification/certificate (or completing) in either teaching, youth work, social work or community development, and/or extensive experience in specifically working with children and young people aged between 5 – 12 years is required.
• Experience working with children and young people with diverse needs and from diverse backgrounds is desirable.
• Food Handling Certificate (desirable).
• A current Working with Children Check and willing to undertake Police Check (mandatory).
• Current Level 2 First Aid Certificate desirable.
