We are now recruiting prison officers to work at Tarrengower Prison, Victoria's only minimum-security female prison. Tarrengower specialises in preparing women for a return to the community at the end of their sentence. Programs offered at Tarrengower support education and employment opportunities for the women in our care.
About the role
As a prison officer, you play a crucial part in a person’s rehabilitation journey and ensure the safety and security of the facility.
Prison officers supervise daily activities, support positive behaviour, and respond to incidents to ensure the safe operation of the prison.
You will be challenged, but your resilience and dedication will help you thrive.
What we’re looking for
We’re seeking good communicators who approach each day with a positive mindset and a belief that people have the capacity to change.
There are no specific professional background or qualifications needed for the role. It’s your life experience that counts in this job.
What’s in it for you
✔ Earn $39.15 per hour (including casual loading), plus penalty rates
✔ Comprehensive, fully-paid training (note that this is full time hours)

Note that casual staff will be required to complete 42 days of paid, full-time prison officer pre-service training. This will be Monday to Friday over an 8 week period, and casuals are expected to be available for the duration of the training. Casual roles are not eligible for full time benefits such as sign-on bonus.
