Job Summary
We’re looking for a thoughtful, collaborative, and technically strong Data Engineering Team Lead to guide the design, delivery, and ongoing evolution of our data platforms and pipelines across HUB24’s digital and enterprise landscape.
In this role, you’ll help shape scalable, secure, and well-governed data solutions—ensuring trusted, high-quality data is available to support product, operational, regulatory, and customer outcomes.
Working closely with Product Managers, Engineers, Analysts, and business stakeholders, you’ll translate business needs into meaningful, scalable data products and solutions, while ensuring reliability, performance, security, and cost-efficiency remain front of mind.
This is a hands-on leadership opportunity where you’ll balance strategic thinking with practical delivery, guiding modern data architecture (Databricks, GCP) while staying close to the detail when needed. You’ll play a key role in uplifting engineering practices, mentoring others, and fostering a culture of collaboration, learning, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
Lead, support, and develop a high-performing, inclusive team of data engineersMentor and coach team members, supporting both technical growth and career developmentDesign, develop, and maintain systems across Engage and myHUB platformsBuild and optimise Databricks-based workflows, including batch and real-time data pipelinesGuide the design of scalable, secure, and maintainable data architecturesContribute hands-on to development to ensure high-quality, fit-for-purpose outcomesPartner closely with Product, Engineering, Cloud, DevOps/SRE, Cybersecurity, and business stakeholdersTranslate complex technical concepts into clear, accessible insights for decision-makingDeliver prioritised initiatives, products, and capabilities on time and within budgetDefine and implement target data architectures, sequencing plans, and platform capabilitiesEnsure solutions align with enterprise architecture, standards, and governance frameworksEmbed secure-by-design principles, including data access controls, PII protection, and data governanceMaintain strong practices across data quality, testing, lineage, monitoring, and documentationLead continuous improvement across security, resilience, and engineering practicesIntegrate AI capabilities where they add meaningful valueBuild strong stakeholder relationships and influence outcomes through collaboration
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)Experience leading or mentoring engineers, with a passion for supporting and developing othersProven experience designing and delivering complex data solutions in modern environmentsStrong experience with Databricks (or similar platforms) and high-volume data systemsExperience with cloud-native environments (GCP preferred) including managed data services and streamingSolid understanding of OLTP systems (NoSQL beneficial)Experience with modern data architectures including APIs, event-driven systems, and microservicesKnowledge of data warehousing, analytics ecosystems, and scalable reporting platformsUnderstanding of data governance, security, and privacy principles, including secure-by-design approachesExposure to AI integration and emerging technologies is valuedExperience working in Agile environments (SAFe or similar)Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts in plain languageProven ability to manage competing priorities with clarity, care, and sound judgementExperience in regulated environments (financial services preferred)Awareness of privacy, encryption, data classification, and risk management practices
