About the role
At Alkira we are dedicated to empowering people with intellectual disabilities to live their best lives. We are committed to providing person-centred support that promotes independence, dignity, and inclusion.
We currently have ongoing casual opportunities for Disability Support Workers to provide high-quality support to adults with intellectual disabilities across our Community and Home Supports programs.
We offer a range of day and residential programs and activities at Alkira's Box Hill and Nunawading facilities, as well as supported living in surrounding suburbs.
We are currently seeking compassionate, reliable, and enthusiastic Disability Support Workers to join our community and home supports team. In this role, you will support individuals with intellectual disabilities and help enrich their lives by assisting them to achieve their goals and build independence through a range of programs and activities. Due to the nature of our services, we are particularly interested in applicants who are available to work during weekdays. Availability across at least three weekdays is highly desirable, as this enables greater consistency of support for the people we assist.
Genuine passion for supporting people with intellectual disabilities
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Reliable and able to work independently or as part of a team
Commitment to upholding the rights and dignity of people with disabilities
Previous experience in the disability sector (preferred)
Available to work at least three weekdays per week (preferred)
Experience supporting people with behaviours of concern (BOC) would be advantageous

Cert III Individual Support or Cert IV Disability Support (desirable) - while qualifications in a relevant discipline are advantageous, we welcome applications from candidates who can demonstrate equivalent knowledge and experience.
