About this role

Join our National Indirect Tax team, a national powerhouse supporting clients in delivering a range of indirect tax services, focusing on GST.  Our fast-growing team specialises in providing indirect tax consulting / advisory services and GST compliance across diverse industry sectors such as financial services, real estate and construction, energy and resources, public sector, health and aged care, and not-for-profit.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in consulting on a wide array of GST matters, including preparation of technical advice on complex client matters and significant transactions.
• Assist in providing advice on State Taxes matters, including stamp duty, land tax and other state-based revenue obligations.
• Liaise with the ATO and prepare applications on behalf of clients with respect to the tax treatment of certain products, goods or services.
• Review and analyse client data to prepare recurring activity statements (i.e. BAS).
• Develop data analytics skills by assisting with GST data analytics and technology-driven engagements for clients using tools such as Alteryx and Microsoft Power BI.
• Learn and grow through training and development provided by indirect tax experts across the team.
• Embrace the freedom to contribute innovative ideas.

Skills & experience

• Bachelor's degree in Law, Accounting, or Commerce (or similar); preferably with or studying towards CA, Masters in Taxation, LLM in Taxation.
• Proven track record working within indirect taxes, including GST, VAT and/or State Taxes.
• Excellent analytical and technical skills.
• Tax accounting/technology skills would be advantageous.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office required; direct work experience with major ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, Great Plains) would be advantageous.
