Event Manager and Marketing Assistant

MarketLife Pty Ltd is looking for a highly organised, dynamic and motivated Event Manager & Marketing Assistant to join our team — supporting marketing and communications across our brands during the week, and managing our markets on event days.

This is a 6 month contract with possibility of extension or increasing hours for the right applicant. This role is 24.2 hours per week total: a minimum of 15.2 hours in the office Monday–Friday supporting marketing and content, plus up to 9 hours every week on weekends managing our market events. Fridays in office and weekend event management is essential and non-negotiable for the full 6-month contract — please only apply if you're able to commit to working the majority of weekends and available Fridays for in office work.

This role reports to our Marketing & PR Coordinator for marketing duties during the week, and to our Event and Business Coordinator regarding work on event days. We are looking for someone enthusiastic and ready to hit the ground running!

Marketing & Content (Mon–Fri)

• Assist with scheduling, curating, and monitoring content across social media platforms, ensuring consistent messaging and brand alignment

• Film, edit and create video content for social media channels

• Create graphics for social media, newsletters, and blogs in line with brand guidelines

• Support the writing and production of email newsletters and blog content

• Assist with tracking and reporting on marketing performance metrics

• Support the creation of marketing materials including signage, flyers, and event collateral

• Provide general support to the Marketing & PR Coordinator as directed

Event Management (Weekends)

• Manage events on the day as the main point of contact, addressing and resolving any issues or emergencies as they arise

• Manage event logistics including stall allocations, bump in/out scheduling, and event day run sheets

• Oversee event set-up, tear down, and follow-up processes

• Ensure compliance with all necessary permits, licences, and regulations for events

• Manage casual staff during events, including training and performance management

• Maintain relationships with partners, vendors, and suppliers

• Coordinate with vendors, exhibitors, and stakeholders during the event planning process as needed

Essential:

• A genuine interest in MarketLife's brands and what we do — you treat the job like it's your own

• Experience working at events

• Experience in content creation, social media, or marketing (can be on personal channels)

• Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent attention to detail

• Team player with a positive, can-do attitude

• Self-motivated and proactive — you take initiative without needing to be prompted

• Reliable, prompt, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team

• Strong organisational and time management skills

• Ability to work effectively under pressure and in fast-paced environments

• Comfortable managing and training staff, and making decisions on the day

• Basic knowledge of MS Office and willingness to learn other tools and software as required

• Available every Friday and weekends for the full 6 month contract

• First aid qualifications

Desirable (but not essential):

• Prior experience as a manager

• Familiarity with tools such as Canva, EDM software, and social media scheduling platforms

• Qualifications or current study in Marketing, Communications, Events, or a related field
