About the role
Looking for a great fit –
Experienced, qualified VETERINARY NURSE or TECH position available at Petmania Vets (Brisbane North)
You know what a recruiting ad is meant to say, so we’re not going to take up your time with the same things you’ll read above and below this one. Instead, we asked our current team members what they noticed and loved on their first day at Petmania, in case something here resonates with you.
They listed, in no particular order:
• Designated free parking on-site for each team member,
• Fun scrubs every day (“on Wednesday’s we wear pink”)
• Above award wage from day one
• Natural light flowing through the clinic (not like you’re stuck in a casino)
• Dark humour welcomed
• Eating a lot of carbs from our team snack bar – savoury and sweet snacks, chocolate and coffee provided daily
• Up-to-date equipment / latest lab machines / newly released medications
• Team outings/family days
• Varied caseload, from kitten vaccinations to emergency caesareans and advanced orthopaedics
• A ridiculous amount of CPD opportunities, from conference attendance to weekly webinars, and off-site courses for that topic that you’re really passionate about
• Frequent Lunch ‘n’ Learns
• Having GYG and Woolworths so close by
• Simple organisational chart – the owner and managers are on-site to help each day, no corporate layers
• The big grey clinic cat ‘Humphrey’, who lives on-site
• Purpose-built, well-equipped modern building
• Transparent and reliable rostering
• Encouraged to show initiative and suggest new ways of doing things
• ‘High 5’ individual recognition cards from team members
• No after-hours or on-call work
• Allied health services on-site including Hydrotherapy studio and veterinary acupuncturist
• Advanced surgeries and imaging with visiting specialists
The type of person we’re looking for knows that we can’t save them all, but we’ll try our absolute best every time, regardless. They’ll know that client education and rapport building is the key to better patient outcomes and client satisfaction, and they’ll want to contribute their unique skills and knowledge to that process. They’ll be self-driven to do a great job, whether that’s assisting with an emergency splenectomy surrounded by teammates or mopping in a closed clinic at the end of a big day. They have the integrity to do the right thing, well, with transparency.
The role is a mix of hospital, surgical and consult nursing across full-time hours. Many of our clients are second generation Petmania families, and being part of their busy lives for all these years is pretty humbling. But just as we expect greatness during the day, we take your down time seriously too – we encourage you to take your lunch break on time each day and want you to switch off when you walk out.
At the end of the day, we are recruiting for a good team fit above all else – as you probably are too.
Give our Practice Manager, Jo, a call on 3264 6700 or shoot her an email to **@petmaniavets.com.au for some more info.
Bonus points if you include photos of your pets 😊
