The Opportunity

The UWA Aquatic Centre is seeking enthusiastic school leavers aged 16+ to train as swim teachers. You'll receive full support while completing your practical training, gain valuable real-world experience, build confidence, and help children learn to swim—an important life skill—all while earning an income.

About You

We’re looking for individuals with:

• A positive attitude and a genuine interest in working with children.

• Confidence in speaking and giving clear instructions

• A willingness to learn and build new skills.

• No previous swimming teaching experience is required – full training and support will be provided.

Getting Started

Before starting, make sure you have the following qualifications (or are working towards them):

1. Enrol in and complete a recognised Swim Instructor course (Austswim, Royal Life Saving, SWIM Australia) 

2. Obtain your other qualifications (National Police Clearance, WWC, First Aid and CPR) 

Key Dates

• Applications Close: 21 September 2026

• Interviews: Late October 2026

• Complete Swimming Instructor Course By: 18 December 2026

• Training Sessions: 11–29 January 2027 (7:45 – 11:05 am) - You'll complete your supervised practical teaching hours with support from our experienced instructors.

• School Term Classes Begin: Monday 1 February 2027
