About Youth Justice

Youth Justice provides community-based supervision and case management services for young people who are appearing before, or have been sentenced by, the Children's Court, Koori Court and adult criminal courts and who have been placed on Youth Justice supervised orders, including supervised bail. Youth Justice promotes the rehabilitation of young people involved in offending, with the aim of reducing crime in the community.

About the role

The Team Manager, Youth Justice Bail After-hours Service (YJBAS) will play a critical role in supporting young people to get their lives back on track. The role is responsible for: 

• Leading and supervising a team of YJBAS Workers to conduct quality bail assessments, prepare quality reports, and provide authoritative and expert advice to Bail Justices and the Weekend Online Remand Court (WORC).  

• Oversee team operations and provide strategic advice and problem-solving regarding operations of YJBAS and contribute to effective service delivery. 

• Oversee the support provided by YJBAS in afterhours monitoring and responses to young people subject to Electronic Monitoring Service (EMS) of bail conditions.
• YJBAS Team Managers also support the after-hours delivery of the EBSS.

The YJBAS Team Managers will operate on a rotating roster, with both evening and day shifts, which includes weekends and public holidays and you will be remunerated in accordance with the applicable provisions of the Victorian Public Service Enterprise Agreement 2024. 

This role is available on either a part-time or full-time basis. An example part-time roster is attached to give you an idea of the shifts you can expect.

About You

As our ideal candidate, you will demonstrate:

• experience in and passion for managing teams and resources ensuring smooth delivery of services and organisational change
• an advanced understanding of the Youth Justice System, particularly the principles and philosophy underpinning relevant legislation and the Victorian Youth Justice program
• excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to effectively build relationships with people at all levels
• proven written communication skills and an ability to plan and provide strategically appropriate recommendations to various stakeholders.
