Senior Bioprocess Scientist/Engineer

About the Role

An exciting opportunity for an experienced bioprocess professional to lead the development and scale-up of innovative vaccine technologies with the potential to improve global health outcomes. Reporting to the Team Lead, the Senior Bioprocess Scientist/Engineer will provide technical leadership across vaccine drug substance process development activities, with a focus on Tangential Flow Filtration (TFF), process optimisation, scale-up and technology transfer.

Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will drive the development of robust, scalable processes, support manufacturing readiness and act as a key technical contributor across product development programs.

Key Responsibilities:

Tangential Flow Filtration (TFF) & Bioprocess Development

• Lead the design, optimisation and execution of TFF and bioprocess development activities.
• Provide technical expertise to support process troubleshooting, investigations and continuous improvement.
• Analyse process data and prepare technical reports and development documentation.
• Contribute to process strategy and act as a subject matter expert across development programs.

Technology Transfer

• Lead technology transfer activities from development into manufacturing.
• Support process scale-up, qualification and manufacturing readiness activities.
• Evaluate process performance and identify opportunities to improve scalability and robustness.

Analytical & Product Characterisation

• Support analytical method development, qualification and transfer activities.
• Oversee the characterisation of vaccine and biologic products using a range of analytical techniques.
• Use analytical insights to support process development and product understanding.

Leadership & Collaboration

• Lead technical projects to ensure delivery against development milestones.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to scientists and engineers.
• Collaborate with Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering and Regulatory teams to achieve successful program outcomes.

About You

You are a collaborative and technically strong scientist or engineer with experience developing and scaling bioprocesses within a biotechnology, biologics or pharmaceutical environment.

You will ideally have:

• A postgraduate qualification in Bioprocess Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Biology or a related discipline; or equivalent industry experience.
• Experience in biotechnology, biologics, vaccine or pharmaceutical development.
• Strong expertise in process development, optimisation and scale-up activities.
• Hands-on experience with Tangential Flow Filtration (TFF) and related bioprocess technologies.
• Experience supporting technology transfer and manufacturing readiness in a regulated environment.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
