About the role

National Parks and Wildlife Service has a unique opportunity for a Project Officer – Aboriginal Joint Management to work as part of the team and contribute towards the protection of natural and cultural heritage.

This is a targeted role under GSE Rule 26 and Aboriginal people are encouraged to apply.

You will work closely with Aboriginal communities, Custodians, board members and stakeholders to strengthen partnerships and support the joint management of national parks across NSW.

This varied and rewarding role involves coordinating projects and program activities, supporting governance processes, providing secretariat services for stakeholder forums, and contributing to key initiatives such as the Annual Custodians Network Meeting. You will also assist with financial administration, procurement, reporting, records management, and the development of tools and resources for Aboriginal Joint Management groups.

In a collaborative environment, you will engage with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, provide advice on governance and partnership matters, monitor project progress, manage program information, and support continuous improvement across the Aboriginal Joint Management Program.

About You

You are a motivated project professional who is passionate about working in partnership with Aboriginal people and communities to achieve positive outcomes for Country, culture and conservation. You bring strong organisational skills and can confidently coordinate multiple projects, priorities and stakeholder relationships in a dynamic environment.

You have experience supporting project delivery through effective planning, reporting, governance and administration, with the ability to analyse information, identify risks and develop practical solutions. You are comfortable managing project documentation, monitoring budgets and maintaining accurate records and reporting systems.

A strong communicator, you can build trusted relationships with diverse stakeholders, facilitate collaboration and prepare clear, high-quality briefs, reports and presentations. You are proactive, adaptable and committed to delivering quality outcomes while contributing to a respectful, inclusive and culturally safe workplace.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

• Experience coordinating projects and program activities, including planning, monitoring and reporting.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to build effective partnerships with Aboriginal communities and organisations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the preparation of reports, briefings and presentations.
• Sound organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
• Experience with governance processes, financial administration, procurement and records management.
• Relevant qualifications and/or experience in project management or a related field.
• A willingness to travel 

Knowledge and experience

• Experience in development and delivery of projects, including the development of project plans, monitoring of project timelines, budgets and reporting requirements, and contract administration.

Essential requirements

• Appropriate tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent relevant working experience in project management.
