SCHADS Award – Social and Community Services Employee Level 3, Pay Point 3
Little Petal is seeking experienced and suitably qualified professionals to join our team as Children’s Contact Support Services (CCSS) Supervisors.
This is a specialised child and family practice role supporting children and families where supervised contact or changeover arrangements are required, including matters involving Family Court proceedings, parental conflict, family violence, trauma, child protection concerns and complex family circumstances.
Our supervisors are responsible for maintaining a safe, child-focused and professionally neutral environment while supporting children to spend time with a parent or family member.
About the Role
As a CCSS Supervisor, you will:
Supervisors may work from Little Petal’s dedicated family contact space and, where appropriate, within community settings.
About You
We are looking for professionals who are calm, observant, confident and able to exercise sound professional judgement in complex family situations.
You will be able to engage warmly and appropriately with children while maintaining clear professional boundaries with adults. You will understand that the role of a CCSS Supervisor is not to investigate allegations, mediate between parents or provide legal advice, but to maintain safe, neutral and child-focused supervision.
High-quality professional writing skills are essential for this role. You must be able to produce clear, accurate and objective written records that distinguish between direct observation, reported information and professional action taken. Given the Court-related nature of this work, attention to detail and the ability to document complex interactions without interpretation, bias or unsupported conclusions are particularly important.
You will also understand the importance of privacy and confidentiality when working with separated families, including maintaining appropriate boundaries around information shared by each parent, children and other professionals.
Qualifications and Professional Requirements
Applicants should hold, or be nearing completion of, a relevant tertiary qualification such as:
Where the applicant’s profession has an established professional registration or membership body, applicants should be registered, or eligible for registration or professional membership, with the relevant body. For example, Social Work applicants should be eligible for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
Applicants will also require:
Experience in family law, family violence, child protection, trauma-informed practice, disability, neurodiversity, complex family work or therapeutic child and family services will be highly regarded.
Training and Professional Support
Previous experience specifically supervising family contact is desirable but is not essential for the right professional.
Little Petal has developed a structured CCSS induction and competency framework. New Supervisors undertake role-specific induction and competency assessment before being approved for independent CCSS supervision.
Depending on previous qualifications and experience, this may include shadowing, co-supervision, scenario-based learning, review of professional documentation and supervised practice.
Supervisors have access to ongoing professional supervision, senior practice consultation and professional development.
About Little Petal
Little Petal is an Adelaide-based child and family service providing specialised support to children and families experiencing complex circumstances.
Our Children’s Contact Support Service provides child-focused supervised contact and changeover services within a professional practice framework that prioritises child safety, professional neutrality, family violence-informed practice, objective documentation, privacy and confidentiality, and high standards of professional conduct.
We are continuing to grow our CCSS service and are looking for professionals who want to contribute to a thoughtful, ethical and genuinely child-focused model of practice.
How to Apply
Please submit your CV and cover letter, addressed to Sarah Parisi, Director, outlining:
Applications should be submitted via email to careers@littlepetal.com.au.
