About the role
Fremantle Floors is seeking a Cabinet Maker Trades Assistant to join our growing team in O'Connor, WA. This is a full-time position offering an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in carpentry and cabinet making under the guidance of experienced craftspeople. You will play a vital role in supporting our cabinet making operations, contributing to the production of high-quality bespoke and standard staircase treads and nosing's for our valued clients. This position is based on-site in O'Connor, where you will work alongside our skilled team in a professional workshop environment.
Key responsibilities
Assisting experienced cabinet makers in the design, measurement and fabrication of custom stair treads and nosing's
Preparing materials, including cutting, sanding and finishing wood components to specification
Operating hand and power tools safely and competently under supervision
Assembling stair treads and nosing's according to technical drawings and specifications
Applying finishes, including staining, painting and varnishing
Maintaining a clean, organized and safe workshop environment
Supporting the installation of completed cabinetry at client sites when required
Learning and adhering to health and safety standards and best practices within the workshop
Contributing to quality control and ensuring work meets company standards
What we're looking for
A genuine interest in carpentry and cabinet making with a willingness to learn new skills
Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality workmanship
Physical fitness and the ability to perform manual labour, including lifting and standing for extended periods
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
Reliability, punctuality and a positive attitude towards work
Basic understanding of woodworking tools and materials, or willingness to develop this knowledge
A valid driver's licence is required
Relevant trade qualifications or current apprenticeship in carpentry or cabinet making are advantageous
Current or ability to obtain appropriate health and safety certifications as required
Knowledge of CNC programming and V Carve pro software would be an advantage
