Volunteer Content Creator, Weekend Events and Campaign - Photo and Video

• Location: Cumberland LGA, Western Sydney (on location at events)
• Commitment: Weekends, approximately 3 to 5 hours per week, flexible around event schedule

About the role

We're looking for a volunteer content creator to capture our weekend community events, door-knocking sessions, street stalls and campaign activities across Western Sydney for Councillor Sujan Selven. You'll shoot on a phone, edit quickly, and help us tell the story of a community organising for itself.

This is grassroots, people-first content. Think warm, honest and local, not polished corporate video.

What you'll do

• Attend weekend events and campaign activities and capture photos and short-form video
• Edit vertical content for Instagram Reels, TikTok and Facebook, usually turned around within 24 to 48 hours
• Capture candid moments, volunteer teams, community members and speakers
• Help build a simple photo library we can draw on for later posts
• Work with the team on content ideas and rough shot lists before each event

Who we're looking for

• Comfortable shooting and editing on a mobile phone (CapCut, InShot, Lightroom Mobile or similar)
• An eye for a moment, and the confidence to move around a crowd
• Reliable on weekends, and able to commit for at least 3 months
• Respectful of the diverse communities across Cumberland, including culturally and linguistically diverse and faith communities
• Understands consent, and will check before filming people, especially children and vulnerable community members

Experience is welcome but not essential. If you're building a portfolio and want real events to shoot, we'd love to hear from you.

Desirable, not required

• Interest in local government, community organising or progressive politics
• Second language spoken in the Cumberland area, for example Tamil, Arabic, Mandarin, Hindi or Turkish
• Own camera gear or gimbal
• Working with Children Check, or willing to obtain one
