ABOUT THE POSITION
The Human Resources Advisor is responsible for providing professional human resources advice and operational support across the employee lifecycle. The role works collaboratively with managers and staff to support recruitment, onboarding, employment compliance, performance management, employee relations, staff development and workforce administration.
Working closely with the Executive Management Team and the external Human Resources Consultant, the Human Resources Advisor contributes to the development and implementation of effective, compliant and people-focused human resource practices that support the strategic objectives of WIN.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide professional human resources advice and support to managers and staff on employment matters, institutional policies, procedures and relevant employment legislation.
Coordinate end-to-end recruitment and selection processes, including advertising, candidate management, interviews, pre-employment checks, employment offers, contracts and onboarding.
Prepare, maintain and administer employment documentation and employee records, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality and compliance with legislative and institutional requirements.
Support the effective management of the employee lifecycle, including probation, performance management, contract variations, leave administration, staff movements and separation processes.
Assist in the development, implementation and continuous improvement of human resources policies, procedures, systems and practices that support the strategic objectives of WIN.
Coordinate staff induction, mandatory compliance training and professional development activities, and contribute to initiatives that promote employee engagement, wellbeing and a positive workplace culture.
Prepare human resources reports, workforce data and documentation to support operational decision-making, workforce planning and regulatory compliance.
Work collaboratively with the external Human Resources Consultant and internal stakeholders to support the management of employee relations matters and the consistent application of employment policies and practices.
Support workplace health and safety, corporate compliance and other organisational initiatives as required, and undertake other duties commensurate with the level of the position.
REQUISITE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE (Selection Criteria)
Essential
A tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Business, Management or a related discipline.
Demonstrated experience in a human resources advisory or generalist role.
Sound knowledge of Australian employment legislation, contemporary human resources practices and relevant workplace obligations.
Demonstrated experience coordinating recruitment and selection processes and administering employment documentation.
Excellent interpersonal, communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across all levels of the organisation.
Highly developed organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and maintain a high level of accuracy and confidentiality.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to exercise sound judgement and provide practical advice.
High level proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience using human resources information systems and related technologies.
Desirable
Experience in the higher education sector or another regulated environment.
Knowledge of the Higher Education Standards Framework (Threshold Standards) 2021 and the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA) regulatory environment.
Experience supporting workplace health and safety, staff wellbeing or organisational development initiatives.
