About the role
Merge Dating | Sydney, NSW
Casual | Approx. 35 hours per week
Merge Dating is an Australian singles events company helping people meet naturally in real life — no dating apps, no speed dating.
What started as one event every couple of weeks has grown into around 12 events every week across Sydney, NSW, Canberra and beyond, with further expansion underway.
We're looking for an organised, proactive and people-focused Events & Experience Coordinator to help us deliver great events and develop new experiences as we continue to grow.
This is a hands-on role combining event coordination, event development and guest experience.
You'll help manage the detail behind our weekly events — working with hosts and venues, preparing event information, solving problems and making sure everything is ready to go.
You'll also work closely with the founder to develop new event ideas and bring them to life. We want someone who can take an idea, research the options, work through the details and help make it happen.
This is not primarily a marketing or content creation role. We're looking for someone who is organised, resourceful, good with people and genuinely enjoys making things happen.
Preparing event run sheets and coordinating event information with our hosts
Liaising with venues and confirming event arrangements, setup and requirements
Helping onboard and support our growing team of event hosts
Coordinating event materials and handling event-related enquiries and operational issues
Helping develop new event concepts and working through the details required to bring them to life
Researching and sourcing venues, suppliers, activities and other requirements for new and special events
Acting as a first point of contact for day-to-day operational issues and guest/host concerns at events
Supporting new venue and location launches as Merge expands
Reviewing event and host feedback and helping us continually improve the guest experience
Attending events and visiting venues when required
Keeping our event information, documents and internal systems organised and helping improve the way we operate
We're looking for someone who:
Is highly organised and naturally good with detail
Takes initiative and doesn't need every step mapped out for them
Is reliable and follows things through
Communicates confidently with different people
Can juggle multiple priorities without losing track of the details
Is calm and practical when things change at the last minute
Is comfortable with Google Drive, spreadsheets and online systems
Has a genuine interest in events and creating great experiences
Experience in events, hospitality, operations, venue management or coordination would be highly regarded, but we're equally interested in someone with the right attitude, initiative and ability to learn quickly.
This is a casual position offering approximately 35 paid hours per week, generally Monday to Friday.
Your hours will vary around our event calendar. Some days may be closer to standard business hours, while on event days you may work later — for example 12pm–8pm. Flexibility around event times is therefore important.
A work phone will be provided for role-related calls and messages.
The role will involve occasional travel for venue inspections, meetings and event support, with approved work-related travel expenses reimbursed.
You'll be joining a growing business where you'll have genuine responsibility and the opportunity to make an impact.
You'll work closely with the founder, digital team and marketing co-ordinator - and contribute to new event ideas and see the direct result of the experiences you help create.
As Merge continues to grow, there will also be plenty of opportunity for the role to grow with it.
Please send us your CV and a short cover letter telling us why you'd be a great fit.
We'd particularly love to hear about a time you've had to organise something with lots of moving pieces, solve problems along the way and make sure it all came together.
