About the role

Franco Pizza Bar is seeking a talented and passionate Chef/Cook to join our dynamic kitchen team in Thirroul, NSW. This is a full-time position based at our vibrant pizzeria, where you will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional culinary experiences to our guests. As Chef/Cook, you will be at the heart of our operations, bringing creativity, skill, and dedication to every dish that leaves our kitchen. What you'll be doing

• Preparing and cooking a variety of pizzas, pasta dishes, and other menu items to the highest standard

• Managing food preparation stations and ensuring all cooking equipment is maintained and used correctly

• Following recipes and plating guidelines consistently whilst maintaining attention to detail and presentation

• Monitoring food quality, freshness, and portion control throughout service

• Collaborating with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth and efficient operations during service periods

• Maintaining strict hygiene and food safety standards in compliance with health regulations

• Contributing to menu development and suggesting creative dishes that reflect current culinary trends

• Managing stock levels and communicating ingredient needs to management

• Adapting quickly to changing service demands and handling high-pressure situations professionally

What we're looking for

• Proven experience working as a Chef or Cook, ideally in a pizzeria or Italian cuisine environment

• Strong knowledge of pizza-making techniques, including dough preparation, tossing, and traditional cooking methods

• Proficiency with commercial kitchen equipment and food preparation tools

• Food safety certification or willingness to obtain one

• Excellent time management and organisational skills with the ability to multitask in a busy kitchen

• A passion for quality ingredients and authentic culinary techniques

• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team

• Physical fitness and stamina to handle the demands of a full-time kitchen role

• Attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining high standards of food quality and presentation

• Flexibility with working hours, including evenings, weekends, and potentially public holidays

• Preferred: Experience in Italian cuisine, knowledge of wine pairings, or previous supervisory kitchen experience
