About the role
About Us:
Delmar Private Hospital has been servicing the local community for 50 years and is part of the Macquarie Health Group who operates 12 private hospitals across NSW and VIC.
Located in Dee Why, Delmar serves the Community by providing Rehabilitation and Medical Care. Our team is comprised of Rehabilitation Specialists, Allied Health and Nursing staff, and together we are committed to improving patient care across the whole journey from diagnosis of the condition to management and cure.
The Role:
We are currently recruiting for a Day Rehabilitation administrator / Reception under the HPSSA award, Support Services Level 4. The role requires someone who enjoys interacting with patients, understands the importance of customer service and the responsibilities of working in a hospital environment, which is often busy and each situation novel. You will work with an experienced Allied Health team, reporting directly to the Allied Health Manager and will work closely with our full-time admin staff. We are looking for someone to work in a casual capacity for 1-2 days per week, between 4-6 hours per day and additional days/hours for staff leave coverage.
Key responsibilities
· All administrative duties associated with referrals, health fund checks, booking appointments, and invoicing for the Outpatient / Day Rehabilitation department.
· To ensure patients receive the highest standard of customer service, including face to face, telephone or written.
· To maintain a strong team working environment across multiple disciples.
· Medical record management.
· Patient billing and accurate data entry for all patient transactions using various hospital billing systems.
· Assisting the finance team with collection of patient accounts.
The successful candidate will have the following skills & experience:
· Strong computer skills, including intermediate Excel skills
· Effective communication and interpersonal skills
· Attention to detail
· Excellent time management and organisational skills
· Able to be flexible, support the team and work independently
· Able to be polite with excellent customer service, particularly with the older population, or patients who are feeling stressed, anxious and uncertain about their healthcare appointments.
Desirable criteria:
· Prior hospital experience
· Experienced with the patient system WebPas or equivalent
· Experience with Private Health Fund billing process
· Knowledge of health fund eligibility check process
· Understanding of ICD coding
