Theatre Bookings Coordinator - Permanent Full Time

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Theatre Bookings Coordinator to join our perioperative team on a permanent full-time basis.

Previous clinical experience as an AIN, EN, RN, or in another patient-facing healthcare role is highly desirable, as it provides a strong understanding of clinical workflows, theatre procedures, medical terminology, and the needs of patients and clinicians.

Key Responsibilities:

•       Coordinate and manage theatre bookings to optimise theatre utilisation, surgeon availability, and patient needs.

•       Schedule elective and emergency cases accurately, resolving any conflicts efficiently.

•       Act as the central contact between surgeons, anaesthetists, nursing staff, and administration.

•       Communicate clearly with staff, patients, and external providers.

•       Ensure compliance with hospital policies and clinical requirements.

•       Maintain accurate booking records and monitor utilisation and cancellations.

•       Provide reports to support planning and performance improvement.

•       Support patients and families with booking information and escalate concerns promptly.

•       Work collaboratively with clinical and administrative teams to ensure smooth operations.

Key Experience:

•       Previous experience in theatre scheduling, perioperative administration, or hospital booking coordination.

•       Familiarity with medical terminology and abbreviations.

•       Knowledge of patient journeys from admission to discharge.

•       An appreciation of clinical urgency and prioritisation.

•       Experience working with surgeons, anaesthetists, nurses and allied health staff.

•       Awareness of infection prevention, patient safety and perioperative processes.

•       The ability to identify potential booking conflicts or missing clinical information before they impact theatre efficiency.
