About the role
The Grade 1 Speech Pathology Inpatient Rotation role includes rotations through Geriatric Evaluation and Management (GEM), Rehabilitation and Acute settings, typically of four months' duration (rotation length may vary according to service requirements). As part of a collaborative and flexible team, the successful candidate may be required to work across sites from time to time, offering the opportunity to broaden clinical experience and contribute to high-quality patient care across the service. The role will be supported by a Grade 2 Speech Pathologist working in the same service. You will have regular supervision and professional development to build the skills needed to be an independent therapist.
The Grade 1 Speech Pathologist provides evidence-based, person-centred care to patients with a broad range of communication, cognitive and swallowing disorders. Speech Pathologists work closely with the multidisciplinary team and enjoy strong teamwork and collaboration. You will have the opportunity be involved in quality and service improvement.
Key duties and responsibilities
- Provide high quality, evidence-based Speech Pathology clinical practice that is person-focused.
- Develop and maintain effective partnerships with patients, families, carers and multidisciplinary team members in support of optimal patient safety and person-centred care delivery.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning through formal and informal multidisciplinary frameworks.
- Participate in clinical supervision and professional development to support own growth and development.
- Participate in quality and service improvement initiatives.
- Demonstrate positive workplace behaviour.
- Demonstrate clear and effective communication.
- Practice speech pathology within scope of practice and seek assistance when required.
