About the role
Job Title: Membership Development Officer
Location: Fortitude Valley
Hours: 30 hours per week (Monday to Thursday)
About Us:
The Queensland Association of State School principals (QASSP) is an independent, not for profit, membership-based association in the education sector. QASSP works to support and advocate on behalf of approximately 1300 members who are Queensland government state school principals and education leaders across the state.
About The Role:
The Membership Development Officer is an integral member of a small, close-knit team, playing a key role in supporting the wellbeing, connection, and professional experience of QASSP members. While this role will primarily focus on building and strengthening membership among middle leaders and emerging leaders, it will also support engagement and service delivery across QASSP's broader membership base. This diverse, rewarding and hands-on role draws on your skills in customer service, database management, event coordination, and stakeholder relationship-building to help the Association deliver on its purpose of enhancing the capacity of members to lead in Queensland state schools. Key responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
Provide general assistance to members and networks, and support middle leaders to understand and access QASSP programs, opportunities and services.
Grow membership and engagement among aspiring leaders, deputy principals, Heads of Curriculum, Heads of Department, and other middle-leadership roles, promoting the purpose of QASSP and the value of membership.
Develop and organise networking, collaboration and professional learning opportunities for members — including workshops, conferences and other gatherings — both face-to-face and virtual.
Proactively engage with members and prospective members through school visits, events, regional meetings, or electronic platforms, working to effectively meet member needs and represent QASSP.
Identify members or cohorts who may require additional support or connection, maintaining accurate records to support this work.
Assist in implementing targeted marketing strategies and identifying sponsorship or partnership opportunities to grow and enhance services for middle leaders, in conjunction with the Marketing Manager, Executive Officer and Business Partner Manager.
Other suitable duties, consistent with the duties and responsibilities of the position, as directed by the Executive Officer.
About You:
You are a proactive and adaptable membership or engagement professional with strong relationship management and communication skills. You enjoy working collaboratively in a small team and can confidently manage multiple priorities simultaneously. You will ideally bring:
Experience in membership development, stakeholder engagement, or relationship management
Strong communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with members, partners and school leaders
Experience supporting networking, professional learning, or event opportunities
Excellent attention to detail and organisational capability
A customer-focused mindset and proactive, problem-solving approach
Flexibility to occasionally travel or work additional hours around events and school visits, though this may be rare
Why Join QASSP?
Enjoy a long weekend, most weekends (4-day week, Monday to Thursday)
Meaningful work supporting educational leadership across Queensland
Collaborative and supportive team culture
Convenient Fortitude Valley location
Dynamic and values-driven organisation
Due to the nature of this role, you must be eligible to work in Australia on a permanent, part-time basis (no restrictions) to be considered for this position.
QASSP respectfully requests not to be approached by recruiting firms.
