About the role
Sunshine Coast Orthopaedic Group provides world-class orthopaedic care with a compassionate, individualised approach for every patient. Our specialist orthopaedic surgeons treat conditions of the spine, knee, hip, ankle, shoulder, elbow and hand — from acute sporting injuries to age-related conditions and chronic pain. We're committed to high-quality, evidence-based care and collaborative treatment plans, and our team works in a professional, supportive environment focused on excellence in patient outcomes and service.
This full-time, on-site Operations Manager role oversees the day-to-day running of the clinic — appointment scheduling, patient flow, and coordination between clinical and administrative teams — to keep service delivery smooth and consistent.
• Monitor performance metrics, manage budgets, and support compliance with healthcare regulations
• Lead process improvements and implement new technologies to enhance efficiency and patient experience
• Supervise administrative staff and manage rosters
• Manage relationships with vendors and suppliers, private health funds, hospitals, and external allied health providers
• Maintain clinic policies and procedures
• Prepare reporting for business meetings, and work closely with surgeons and practice leadership on strategic initiatives and quality improvement
• Recruit, onboard, and train new administrative and support staff
• Oversee workplace health and safety (WHS), incident reporting, and risk management
• Work closely with our Marketing and Events Manager to support marketing, community engagement, and referrer/GP relationship activities to grow the practice
• Oversee facilities, equipment, and IT systems to ensure the clinic is well-maintained and fully operational
• Contribute to business planning, forecasting, and negotiation of supplier and service contracts
• Proven experience in operations management, preferably in healthcare, medical practice, or allied health settings
• Strong skills in workflow optimisation, process improvement, and resource planning
• Demonstrated people management, including team leadership, performance management, and staff development
• Competence in budgeting, financial monitoring, and basic practice administration
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across clinical and administrative teams
• Proficiency with practice management software
• Sound understanding of patient confidentiality, healthcare regulations, and quality and safety standards
• Relevant tertiary qualification in business, health administration, management, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• Strong problem-solving, organisational, and time-management skills, with attention to detail and the ability to prioritise competing demands
• Experience in an orthopaedic or specialist medical environment is beneficial but not required
