About the role
About Us
City of Ryde, just 12 kilometres from Sydney CBD, is a place of unique lifestyle and opportunity. It is home to an engaged and culturally diverse community of around 130,000 people, and a strong and growing Smart City economy including more than 13,000 local businesses, Macquarie Park, world-class hospitals, and a leading university. All balanced with beautiful bushland, riverfront parks, open spaces, and sport facilities. Our City is undergoing significant population growth as we address the housing crisis in a collaborative manner with the NSW State Government. Council anticipates our population to double over the next 30 years. To address this rapid population growth, Council has developed a strategy to “strike the right balance”, ensuring that employment opportunities and provision of critical infrastructure occurs with significant housing uplift.
About the Role
Do you have a passion for protecting the environment and preserving our urban forest?
We're looking for a proactive and motivated Tree Compliance Officer to join our Tree Management team. As development continues across the City of Ryde, you'll play an important role in protecting trees and ensuring compliance with tree protection requirements associated with development approvals.
This newly created position offers a unique opportunity to work across a variety of sites, investigating unauthorised tree works, monitoring development compliance, and working with developers, contractors, residents and other stakeholders to achieve positive environmental outcomes. Your work will directly contribute to maintaining and enhancing Ryde's valuable urban canopy for future generations.
About You
You are a professional and community-focused compliance officer who enjoys working in the field and solving complex issues. Passionate about environmental protection, you have strong investigation skills and a practical approach to compliance and enforcement.
You'll work closely with teams across Council, including Planning, Building Compliance and Parks, to investigate reports, gather evidence, educate stakeholders and support positive compliance outcomes. Your ability to build relationships, communicate effectively and apply legislation will be key to your success.
Why Join Us?
This is an opportunity to make a visible impact on the local environment and community. You'll play a key role in protecting Ryde's urban forest while working in a supportive team dedicated to delivering positive environmental outcomes.
What You'll Be Doing
In addition, you will also have:
Bring your experience in tree management, environmental compliance or development regulation and help protect one of Ryde's most valuable community assets, our urban forest.
Your commencing annual salary will range from $99,639.10 to $118,671.98 + Leaseback + Superannuation dependent on your experience and qualifications.
