Pastry Cook

About the role

The successful applicant will be responsible for preparing and producing a range of pastries, cakes, desserts and other baked products in accordance with the business's recipes and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Preparing and weighing ingredients for pastry and baked products
• Mixing, shaping, laminating and preparing doughs and pastry products
• Preparing and baking cakes, pastries, desserts and other baked goods
• Preparing fillings, creams, icings, sauces and other pastry components
• Monitoring oven temperatures and baking times to ensure consistent product quality
• Decorating and finishing pastry and dessert products
• Checking the quality, freshness and presentation of ingredients and finished products
• Maintaining appropriate food preparation, storage and hygiene standards
• Cleaning and sanitising kitchen equipment, utensils and work areas
• Following food safety, workplace health and safety and hygiene requirements

About you

• Relevant qualification in Commercial Cookery, Baking, Pastry or a related field; and/or relevant industry experience
• Previous experience working as a Pastry Cook or in a similar pastry/bakery environment
• Good knowledge of pastry preparation and baking techniques
• Ability to work efficiently in a commercial kitchen
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality
• Good understanding of food safety and hygiene requirements
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
