Scientific Support

Vital Chemical is a recognised leader in sustainable environmental solutions, with expertise in erosion control, dust suppression, revegetation, and water treatment.

We are seeking a Scientific Support to provide day to day operational and technical support to the Senior Scientific Officer. This position supports laboratory operations, research activities, and data management to ensure the smooth execution of scientific projects and compliance with Vital Chemical’s standards for safety, quality, and environmental responsibility.

This permanent part-time position offers approximately 16 hours per week 2 days initially, with the opportunity for hours to increase as the role and business continue to grow. The role is ideally suited to candidates seeking a long-term opportunity including students undertaking relevant studies or professionals looking to build experience early in their career.

What You’ll Do:

• Conduct research, evaluation, and testing of raw materials and products to support quality, safety, and operational outcomes.
• Perform quality control testing and maintain accurate batch records and laboratory documentation.
• Ensure the correct storage and disposal of product samples in accordance with established procedures.
• Support research and development activities, including growth studies, experimental design, product trials, validation, and continuous improvement projects.
• Research scientific information, analyse data, and assist with interpreting and presenting findings.
• Accurately collect, record, and maintain experimental data and laboratory logs.
• Assist in the preparation of technical reports and scientific documentation.
• Undertake general laboratory duties, including sample preparation, experiments, investigations, equipment setup, and housekeeping.
• Monitor laboratory inventory and coordinate the replenishment of supplies and consumables.
• Maintain laboratory facilities, equipment, and records in compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.

About You:

• Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications and data entry.
• Organised, adaptable, and able to manage multiple priorities.
• Self-motivated with a continuous improvement mindset and strong attention to detail.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work both collaboratively in a team environment and independently when required.
• Basic understanding of laboratory practices and safety protocols.
• Current driver's licence and reliable transport.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test and police check.
