School of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work
Casual position with an hourly rate ranging from $52.27 - $55.42, plus superannuation of 12% (HEW Level 4)
Based at the Mater Hospital, South Brisbane
Join a collaborative and purpose-driven team within the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work as a Casual Simulation Technical Assistant. In this hands-on role, you will support the delivery of high-quality clinical simulation learning experiences for nursing and midwifery students. Working alongside teaching staff and technical colleagues, you will help create an engaging, well-prepared and safe learning environment where future healthcare professionals can develop their clinical skills. As part of UQ’s community of professionals creating change together, your contribution will directly support student success and teaching excellence.
Key responsibilities will include:
Assist with the preparation, restocking, set up and pack down of clinical skills sessions for students.
Assist with stocktakes of simulation equipment, assets and consumable supplies.
Ensure clinical simulation equipment is cleaned, maintained and stored in accordance with established procedures.
Assist with equipment maintenance activities, identify defects and report issues within the clinical simulation environment.
Relocate simulation equipment and teaching resources between locations as required.
Support the efficient operation of the Clinical Simulation space to ensure teaching activities run smoothly.
Demonstrated computing skills, including proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite.
Ability to rapidly develop knowledge of nursing and midwifery equipment, clinical supplies and simulation resources.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
Ability to follow direction, work independently and contribute positively within a team environment.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate records and resource management practices.
Well-developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
Flexibility to work designated weekdays in line with teaching timetables and operational requirements.
Experience working within a healthcare, simulation, education or training environment is desirable.
