Customer Service Team Member – Indoor Play Centre

About Us

Lollipops Playland & Cafe Croydon is a family-friendly indoor play centre providing a safe, clean and enjoyable environment for children and families.

We are looking for friendly, reliable and enthusiastic casual Customer Service Team Members to join our team.

This position may particularly suit secondary school students and junior applicants seeking regular after-school, weekend and school holiday work.

Full training will be provided, so previous experience is not required.

Pay rates will be based on the employee’s age and classification under the Amusement, Events and Recreation Award 2020, including applicable casual loading and penalty rates.

About the Role

This is a customer service-focused role in a busy indoor play centre. You will help create a positive experience for children and families from the moment they arrive.

The role includes customer service, reception support, café assistance, children’s party support, cleaning and general venue presentation.

Key Responsibilities

Your duties may include:

• Greeting customers and assisting families at reception
• Helping with customer check-in and general enquiries
• Providing friendly and helpful customer service
• Taking food and drink orders
• Preparing simple café items and beverages
• Clearing tables and keeping the café area tidy
• Assisting with birthday party setup and clean-up
• Supporting party hosts during party sessions
• Keeping the play centre clean, tidy and presentable
• Monitoring play areas and reporting safety concerns to senior staff
• Supporting other team members during busy periods
• Following workplace safety, food hygiene and cleaning procedures

Who We Are Looking For

We are currently looking for applicants with one of the following availability patterns.

Option 1 – Flexible Weekday Availability

This option may suit students completing TAFE, online study, homeschooling or another flexible study program.

Applicants should ideally be able to:

• Work two to three weekday shifts each week
• Work approximately three to four hours per weekday shift
• Provide regular and reliable weekday availability
• Work regularly on weekends
• Work during Victorian school holidays
• Be available for some public holiday shifts

Option 2 – After-School Availability

This option may suit secondary school students who can travel to Croydon shortly after school.

Applicants should ideally be able to:

• Start work at approximately 3:30 pm on selected weekdays
• Work until approximately 5:00 pm
• Work one to three weekday afternoon shifts
• Work regularly on weekends
• Work during Victorian school holidays
• Be available for some public holiday shifts

Applicants who can start from approximately 3:00 pm will be highly regarded.

Some weekday after-school shifts may be shorter than three hours. Any shorter shift arrangement will be discussed and mutually agreed with the employee.

Applicants do not need to meet both weekday availability options.

Weekend and Holiday Availability

Reliable weekend and school holiday availability is an important part of this role.

Priority will be given to applicants who can regularly work:

• Saturdays
• Sundays
• Victorian school holidays
• Some public holidays

Availability across both Saturday and Sunday is strongly preferred.

Weekend and holiday shifts will generally be longer than weekday after-school shifts.

Previous experience in customer service, café work, cleaning, babysitting, volunteering or party support is helpful, but not essential.

• Applicants must be aged 15 or over at the time employment begins
• Secondary school students and junior applicants are encouraged to apply
• No previous experience is required
• Full training will be provided
• Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Australia
• Applicants must have reliable transport to and from the workplace
• School-aged applicants should have parent or guardian support for their work commitments
