About the role
About the role
Life Ed NSW/ACT is looking for an experienced and highly capable Communications, Stakeholder Engagement & Grants Coordinator to join our team.
This is a broad, hands-on role for someone who is equally comfortable writing a compelling grant application, preparing a CEO briefing, pitching a media story, developing stakeholder communications or coordinating engagement with government and sector partners.
Reporting to the General Manager, Engagement & Impact, you will play a key role in strengthening Life Ed NSW/ACT’s profile, influence and sustainability across three core areas:
Communications and media
Stakeholder and government engagement
Grants and funding
You will work closely with our CEO, senior leaders and Marketing Coordinator to translate our programs, evidence and impact into clear, persuasive communications that engage schools, communities, government, partners and funders.
What you’ll be doing
Communications and media
You will:
Develop and deliver organisational communications across a range of audiences and channels.
Write and edit high-quality content including stakeholder communications, EDMs, website content, media releases, presentations and organisational publications.
Draft CEO and executive communications, briefing notes, speaking points and key messages.
Identify and develop media opportunities and build relationships with relevant journalists.
Coordinate media enquiries and prepare spokespeople for interviews.
Translate research, evaluation findings and program outcomes into accessible and compelling communications.
Support communications planning for program launches, partnerships, funding announcements and organisational initiatives.
Work with the Marketing Coordinator to oversee social, digital and campaign content.
Support communications risk and reputation management, including emerging issues and sensitive communications.
Stakeholder engagement
You will:
Coordinate the implementation of Life Ed NSW/ACT’s stakeholder engagement plan.
Build and maintain productive relationships with government, sector, community and strategic stakeholders.
Lead community partner engagement for Life Ed NSW/ACT’s Festival of Health initiatives, building and maintaining strong relationships with regional organisations and partners.
Proactively identify and engage new community organisations and potential partners to strengthen Festival of Health events and Life Ed’s presence within regional communities.
Support engagement with Ministers, MPs, government departments and sector organisations.
Coordinate stakeholder meetings, school visits, events and engagement opportunities.
Prepare briefings, correspondence, presentations, key messages and stakeholder profiles for senior leaders.
Manage our MP Ambassador engagement activity and support major stakeholder events.
Maintain effective follow-up and records across stakeholder relationships and engagement activity.
Work across the organisation to identify opportunities to strengthen Life Ed’s profile and influence.
Grants and funding
You will:
Maintain a forward grants pipeline and funding calendar.
Lead the development of grant applications, expressions of interest and funding proposals.
Write compelling funding narratives that clearly communicate community need, program impact and organisational capability.
Coordinate input from program, finance, operations and external partners.
Develop and maintain a strong bank of evidence, statistics, case studies and program information to support future applications.
Support grant reporting, acquittals and outcome communications.
Help strengthen Life Ed NSW/ACT’s long-term funding pipeline.
About you
You are a strong writer and confident relationship builder who can move comfortably between strategic thinking and hands-on delivery.
You will ideally bring:
Significant experience in communications, media, stakeholder engagement, grants or a related field.
Exceptional written communication skills.
Demonstrated experience writing successful grant applications, proposals or submissions.
Experience engaging with senior external stakeholders.
Strong judgement and confidence working with sensitive or reputational matters.
The ability to turn complex information, data and evidence into clear and persuasive communications.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
A collaborative working style and the confidence to work across multiple teams and priorities.
Initiative and a proactive approach to identifying communications, engagement and funding opportunities.
Experience within government, education, health, the community sector or a not-for-profit organisation would be highly regarded.
Why join Life Ed NSW/ACT?
Life Ed has been supporting children and young people for generations, helping schools and communities build the knowledge and skills young people need to make safer and healthier choices.
This role offers the opportunity to work across communications, government and stakeholder engagement and funding, while contributing directly to an organisation with significant reach and social impact.
You will join a collaborative team and have the opportunity to work closely with senior leaders on projects that directly contribute to Life Ed NSW/ACT’s growth, impact and sustainability.
Interested?
If you are an exceptional communicator who enjoys building relationships, developing compelling proposals and turning good work into stories that engage people and attract support, we would love to hear from you.
Please submit your resume and a cover letter outlining your relevant experience and what you would bring to the role.
