Speech Pathologist

Deliver evidence based diagnostic and intervention services to children and their families presenting with complex communication, developmental, feeding and behavioural difficulties.

The Role 
An opportunity has become available for several Speech Pathologists to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 14 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

You will

• Deliver professional level speech pathology services to children
• Undertake speech pathology assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention and case management tasks
• Work cooperatively and effectively within departmental and multidisciplinary teams
• Contribute to the identification, development and implementation of clinical practices and procedures, protocols

About you 
To be successful in this position you will require:

• Tertiary degree in Speech Pathology
• Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
• Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
• Driver Licence
• Paid Blue Card (Working with Children Check)
• Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
• Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

Salary 

• Temporary full time and temporary part time (several positions, up to December 2026, hours negotiable)
• Base salary ranging from $3,067.00 - $4,453.50 per fortnight or $40.35 - $58.59 per hour

About Us 

The Child Development Service (CDS) is a multidisciplinary team that sits within Community Child Health under the Division of Women Newborn and Children's Health at the Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service. The purpose of the CDS is to clarify the reasons for a child's developmental problems through informal and formal assessments and offer therapy intervention as indicated. Therapy within CDS is time-limited (dictated by clinical diagnosis and criteria) and may include parent / stakeholder education, individual or group therapy, developmental monitoring and /or linking in with appropriate external providers. CDS also has an important role in promoting opportunities for positive child development both within Queensland Health and the wider community.
