About the role

RFDesign is looking for an experienced Electronics Hardware Engineering Team Lead to lead our engineering team in Archerfield, Queensland.

This is a full-time, on-site role responsible for providing technical leadership across the design, development, testing and optimisation of electronics hardware and systems. You'll work closely with engineers, technicians, clients and other teams to deliver high-quality projects from concept through to completion.

Key responsibilities:

• Lead and provide technical guidance to the Hardware Engineering team
• Design and simulate electronics hardware from component to module level
• Oversee PCB design, component selection and manufacturing documentation
• Lead prototype builds, testing, modifications and design verification
• Conduct and oversee hardware testing, including EMI/EMC, environmental and reliability testing
• Drive quality assurance and continuous improvement across engineering projects
• Participate in design reviews and provide technical input on performance, reliability and cost
• Work closely with mechanical, engineering and client teams to deliver integrated solutions
• Build test jigs and develop test software
• Manage project schedules, technical documentation and reports
• Support the development and performance of team members

What we're looking for

Essential:

• Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering or equivalent qualification
• 5-10+ years' experience in electronics hardware engineering
• Previous team leadership or Team Lead experience
• Previous quality assurance experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment
• Strong knowledge of electronics principles and PCB design
• Advanced Altium Designer skills and experience.
• Experience taking projects from concept through to completion
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
• Eligibility for an Australian Defence Security Clearance (Baseline minimum)
• Australian work authorisation at the time of application

Desirable:

• Knowledge of relevant engineering standards and AS/NZS standards
• Experience with RF Circuit Design, EMI minimisation and RF test equipment
• Experience with RF design tools
• Familiarity with hardware certification standards
• Previous UAV/drone industry experience
