The Step Thru Care – Mental Health and Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) model is a partnership-led service delivery model intended to address independent and co-occurring Mental Health and AOD support needs across western Victoria. The service provides a holistic approach to care, addressing a range of social, physical, and emotional needs informed by Collaborative Relational Practice (CRP) and supported by best practice in evidence-based and evidence informed care.

The Mental Health & AOD Clinician will work as part of a multi-disciplinary recovery-focused team. Drawing on your disciplinary skills, you will engage with consumers, to provide high quality evidence based psychological therapies, and clinical interventions, and where required work with the consumers allied health or medical team, and their supports aimed at improving mental health outcomes and/or help the consumer to recover from drug and alcohol use. You will play an active role in disciplinary knowledge sharing with your colleagues and creating a reciprocal learning environment within the team.

• Conduct Initial Assessment and Referral Decision Support Tool screening, recognising client needs and potential challenges.
• Conduct in-depth client assessments, incorporating diverse information sources.
• Develop treatment and intervention plans, aligning them with individual client goals.
• Engage in collaborative discussions to clarify and refine client needs and aspirations.
• Identify and allocate appropriate resources and support pathways to meet client needs effectively.
• Conduct in-depth assessments of client progress and adjusts treatment plans in accordance with current evidence-based therapies and practices.
• Coordinate client care across multiple services and providers, ensuring seamless delivery.
• Lead client conferencing, facilitating discussions and decision-making with a multidisciplinary team.
• Lead and facilitate advanced group therapy sessions and psychoeducation programs for clients.
• Maintain comprehensive client documentation and case notes, ensuring accuracy and compliance and capturing relevant details for analysis.

What we're looking for:

• Strong experience in AOD & Mental Health or Community Services sector.
• Demonstrated experience in the field working with consumers, families, and carers with substance misuse problems, and mental health concerns.
• Proven experience in providing a range of interventions that are trauma-informed, strength based and recovery focused. This experience must be utilising evidence based psychological therapies.
• Capacity to work with people with co-occurring AOD and mental health presentations and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
• Excellent ability to write clear and professional case notes and other essential documentation.
• Previous experiencing using client data base system and relevant Mental Health & AOD screening tools.
• IT savvy and proficient with Microsoft's Suite of programs, including Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint and Excel.
• Qualification in Counselling, Youth Work, Nursing, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or a related field
• Ideally additional qualifications of Certificate IV in AOD and Mental Health or willingness to undertake four AOD Competencies.
