About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Counsellor - Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) to join Anglicare Southern Queensland on a permanent part-time basis 0.6 FTE (3 days per week).

The overall purpose of the Counsellor, Domestic & Family Violence is to provide comprehensive assessments of suitability, group facilitation, individual counselling and follow up sessions, and some case management services to male persons using domestic and family violence, supporting them to take responsibility for their behaviour and work towards positive and sustainable behavioural change.

The position will prioritise the safety of victim-survivors (primarily women and children), who are affected by the behaviour and attitudes of the Person using Violence. The role will work collaboratively with relevant services and stakeholders to promote safety, wellbeing and appropriate support for survivors and their families.

This position is a permanent part-time role based in Eight Mile Plains and Stafford, working three days per week (0.6 FTE). Pay rate starts from $53.42 plus superannuation and access to salary packaging benefits.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual assessment, counselling and facilitate group programs using appropriate evidence-based domestic and family violence intervention frameworks.
• Work collaboratively with clients, colleagues and external stakeholders to deliver integrated, safe, effective and coordinated interventions.
• Maintain an appropriate caseload in accordance with service policies, procedures and guidelines.
• Conduct outcomes-based assessments, risk assessments and safety planning, using specialist assessment tools.
• Develop individual counselling goals, support strategies and case plans in collaboration with clients.
• Maintain accurate and timely case notes, client records, reports and other required documentation.
• Apply relevant legislation, professional standards, evidence-based practice and current research to counselling and intervention services.
• Participate in clinical and operational supervision, case conferencing, team meetings, professional development, training and performance review activities.
• Develop and maintain effective professional networks and represent Anglicare at relevant network meetings and community forums.
• Contribute to service improvement, planning, evaluation, action research and projects, and support the development of students and volunteer counsellors.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with Anglicare's Code of Conduct, policies, procedures, work health and safety requirements, credentialing obligations and other duties reasonably directed by the manager or supervisor.

Qualifications, Credentials and Requirements

• Minimum 4-year Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, Human Services, or a related field.
• Family Peace Initiative qualifications will be highly desirable
• Knowledge of drivers of violence against women
• Practical experience working in the DFV Sector
• Equivalent practical experience in the AOD, Mental Health or homelessness sector may be considered
• Current National Police Certificate.
• Blue Card (Working with Children Check).
• Current valid Driver's Licence.
• Willingness to travel within the service region to meet client and program needs.
• Strong understanding of evidence-based counselling frameworks and DFV interventions.
