The Foundation is an iconic West Australian charity with a proud history spanning more than 100 years, and with one single beneficiary, the Perth Children’s Hospital, we are dedicated to ensuring our sick children continue to receive the world class healthcare they deserve.
As we prepare to open Sandcastles (Boodja Mia), Western Australia’s first children’s hospice, we’re building a team in partnership with the Child and Adolescent Health Service to help deliver a transformative model of paediatric palliative care. This is a rare opportunity to contribute to a bold vision for children’s health in WA.
About Sandcastles (Boodja Mia) Children’s Hospice
Opening in 2026, Sandcastles Children’s Hospice is a purpose built, worldclass paediatric hospice located along Western Australia’s stunning coastline. The hospice will provide state-wide specialist paediatric palliative care for children and young people who are living with life limiting or life-threatening conditions, as well as support for their families.
This state-of-the-art hospice will be the first of its kind in Western Australia. Designed to be a calm, welcoming and a home away from home facility, the hospice will offer specialised paediatric palliative care in an environment that prioritises joyful memory making and meaningful connection.

About the role
You will be the primary, non-clinical point of contact for families staying at Sandcastles Children’s Hospice (Boodja Mia). The role provides a warm and consistent presence ensuring families have reliable access to practical, compassionate, non-clinical support throughout their stay.
The Guest Experience Officer anticipates and responds to family needs, creates a welcoming environment, and services as the connective thread between families and the broader Sandcastles team.
A unique part of this role is that you will be the workplace carriage of Bella, Sandcastles’ certified facility dog. Bella offers families a comforting, calming presence and adds a special dimension for the families at Sandcastles. This is a part-time role (0.6FTE).
Key Responsibilities
About You
You’re a genuinely warm person with a calm and steady presence, and have a background in hospitality, family services, or a related field. Experience in a healthcare, palliative, or children’s services environment is highly regarded.
Given the nature of our facility, genuine empathy, compassion, and emotional resilience are essential, as the role involves supporting children and families experiencing life-limiting illness, grief, and loss.
