The Senior Technical Analyst is a risk-focused practitioner within the Network Delivery Office, responsible for supporting the identification, assessment, treatment, monitoring, and reporting of risks across Optus Networks. The role combines practical risk-management capability with a working understanding of mobile network architecture and delivery, enabling the analyst to provide clear insights for senior leaders and decision-makers, challenge risk information, and identify emerging exposures. The role works closely with engineering, operations, delivery, and governance teams to maintain credible risk information and strengthen risk-based decision-making.

 

Your day to day will consist of

• Maintain and quality assure the Networks risk register, ensuring risks, controls, treatments, ownership, ratings, and review dates are complete and accurate.
• Review and challenge risk submissions from network teams to improve consistency, quality, and usefulness of risk information.
• Facilitate risk identification and review activities with delivery and engineering teams, capturing emerging operational, dependency, vendor, and delivery risks.
• Assess inherent and residual risks, identify control or treatment gaps, and escalate significant concerns in line with the risk framework.
• Monitor risk treatments and control actions, following up overdue or ineffective actions and escalating unmanaged exposures.
• Analyse portfolio-wide risk trends, themes, concentrations, and dependencies, providing actionable insights and recommendations to stakeholders.
• Prepare risk reporting, dashboards, and governance materials, translating technical network risks into clear communications while

 

What makes you perfect for the role

 

• 3-5 years’ experience in mobile/fixed network engineering, operations, risk, governance, controls assurance, or a similar role within a complex delivery environment.
• Strong understanding of network technologies, delivery dependencies, technical constraints, and how risks impact service, customers, compliance, cost, schedule, and operational resilience.
• Practical knowledge of risk management principles, including risk identification, cause-event-impact analysis, controls, treatments, residual risk, ownership, monitoring, and escalation.
• Proven ability to review, challenge, and improve risk statements, risk ratings, controls, treatment plans, and supporting evidence.
• Strong analytical skills with experience identifying trends, themes, concentrations, and emerging risks from complex data and information sources.
• Experience producing risk reports, dashboards, executive briefings, and recommendations using tools such as Excel, Power BI, Tableau, or similar.
• Excellent communication, attention to detail, and judgement, with the ability to translate technical risks for non-technical audiences and confidently investigate incomplete or inconsistent information.
