About the role
Position Profile: In conjunction with the Senior Occupational Therapist, plans, implements and evaluates timely and culturally appropriate Occupational Therapy services to clients, families and the communities in Derby and the Fitzroy Valley.
This is a Permanent Full Time appointment.
Area Profile: WACHS Kimberley is the most northern health region of WACHS. The Kimberley region has approximately 200 Aboriginal communities, over 34 different Aboriginal language groups and 45 percent of the population are Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people. WACHS Kimberley consists of six hospitals, an inpatient mental health unit, three Community Directorates and a Corporate Office. WACHS Kimberley provides hospital, community health, public health, remote area health, community aged care, and mental health services across the region through a dedicated team of medical, nursing, Aboriginal health, allied health and support staff.
Suitability Criteria:
Suitability recognises that a range of factors contribute to merit, including skills, knowledge, abilities, behaviours, ethical alignment and relevant operational requirements. The suitability requirements below are derived from the Job Description Form and define what will be assessed to determine your suitability for the role:
1. Demonstrated knowledge and experience of
Occupational Therapy for a generalist caseload including primary
health care, outpatient, and acute settings, across the lifespan,
including the ability to plan, develop and evaluate Occupational
Therapy programmes.
2. Demonstrated understanding of
cultural factors and social determinants particularly relating to
Aboriginal health, inclusive of Current C Class drivers licence and
an ability and willingness to travel including overnight stays away
from home to provide Occupational Therapy services away from
base.
3.Proven effective time
management, caseload management and organisational
skills.
4. Proven effective interpersonal
and verbal and written communication skills and ability to work as
a member of a multidisciplinary team.

Whilst this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, applicants found suitable for this position may be considered for other ‘similar’ vacancies within WACHS and/or the wider WA public sector. In addition to this, should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised vacancy, then the next most suitable applicant may also be selected from this process. Both of these options remain valid for a period of twelve (12) months from when the authorised delegate endorses the recruitment decision.
