About the role:

We are seeking an experienced and professional Heavy Tow Truck Operator to join our team at MODERN TOWING & SALVAGE in RINGWOOD, VICTORIA. This is a full-time position that is critical to our business operations and customer satisfaction. As a Heavy Tow Truck Operator, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating specialised heavy towing equipment to recover, transport, and salvage vehicles. This role requires precision, technical expertise, and a commitment to safety standards.

Key responsibilities

1. Operate heavy tow trucks and associated specialised equipment safely and competently in compliance with all road transport regulations and company safety procedures

2. Assessing vehicle damage and determining the most appropriate recovery and transportation methods

3. Perform pre-operation and post-operation inspections and maintenance checks on tow trucks and recovery equipment to ensure reliability and safety

4. Secure vehicles appropriately using chains, straps, and other securing devices to prevent damage during transport

5. Navigate to job sites efficiently and safely, managing time effectively to meet customer expectations

6. Work collaboratively with dispatch teams, fellow operators, and salvage staff to ensure smooth operations

7. Maintain a professional appearance and conduct, representing MODERN TOWING & SALVAGE positively at all times

   What we're looking for:

1. Current Multi - Combination (MC) licence endorsed for towing operations

2. Proven competency in vehicle recovery

3. Strong knowledge of road transport regulations, load management, and vehicle safety standards

4. Excellent mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform basic troubleshooting and maintenance on recovery equipment

5. Ability to work independently and make sound judgements in high-pressure situations

6. Ability to work flexible hours and on-call shifts when required

7. Clean driving record
