The Mornington Shire Council is a Local Government Authority providing a range of services to the twenty-two islands of the Wellesley Group located 125kms north-west of Burketown, 200kms west of Karumba and 444kms from Mount Isa, in the southern section of the Gulf of Carpentaria, residing within the State of Queensland.

The Opportunity 

Mornington Shire Council is seeking a Carpenter for full-time employment. You will report directly to the Housing Supervisor to assist the housing team to undertake works for community housing and all Council facilities on Mornington Island.

You’ll undertake work such as:

• Maintenance, renovation, refurbishment, installation, and repair work including other trades - glazing, tiling, painting, cabinetmaking, etc, for domestic housing, council building and infrastructure services.

• New construction work including Commercial and Domestic.

• Ensure all works are properly installed to meet the manufacturer specification. Work to the Australian Standards, BCA and to QBCC.

 Requirements: Essential

• Construction blue card and white card

• Trade Carpenter Cert 3

• Public Liability Insurance

• Driver's License (manual C Class)

• Working at Heights High risk work license

• QBCC registration

Requirements: Desirable

• EWP High Risk Work license

• Telehandler

• Forklift High Risk Work license

• Class B Asbestos License High Risk Work license

• Available to start immediately.
