Utilities Systems Inspection Officer

We're seeking a Utilities Systems Inspection Officer to join our Utilities team and help ensure the integrity, safety and compliance of critical water and sewer infrastructure across the Shire.

This is an opportunity to combine technical expertise, stakeholder engagement and environmental stewardship in a role that makes a real difference to the community. Working across both field and office environments, you'll manage compliance programs, undertake investigations and inspections, provide technical advice and help improve the systems that support sustainable water management.

What you’ll be doing

• Certificate IV in Water Industry Operations (Liquid Trade Waste Regulation) or willingness to obtain
• Background in plumbing, drainage, environmental health or wastewater operations
• Knowledge of wastewater monitoring, sampling and testing techniques
• Confined Space or Construction WHS certifications
• Experience in policy development or process improvement

We offer:

• Full-time position (35 hours per week)
• Salary and Conditions will be in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award with an appointment at a salary in the range of $1,403.59 to $1,626.28 per week (dependent upon skills and experience)

Location: This position is based at Council's Works Depot in Byron Bay, however Council can require you to work from other work sites as required for operational reasons.
