About the role
Role Description The Graduate Software Engineer (Hybrid, Entry-Level) will support the YPB NENA Region by contributing to the design, development, and maintenance of software tools that facilitate youth engagement, data analysis, and policy reporting. Day-to-day tasks include implementing back-end features, writing clean and efficient code, testing and debugging applications, and assisting in integrating digital platforms used for consultations and regional initiatives. The role will also involve collaborating with youth leaders and multidisciplinary teams to translate policy and program requirements into technical solutions and documentation. This is a part-time, hybrid role based in Sydney, NSW, with a combination of on-site collaboration and work-from-home flexibility.QualificationsSolid foundational knowledge in Computer Science, including data structures, algorithms, and software engineering principles.Proficiency in Programming and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), with experience in at least one modern programming language (e.g., Python, Java, C#, or similar).Basic experience or strong interest in Software Development and Back-End Web Development, including working with APIs, databases, and server-side logic.Ability to learn new technologies quickly, write clear technical documentation, and follow version control practices (e.g., Git).Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and a commitment to writing reliable, maintainable code.Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work respectfully in diverse, youth-led, and multicultural teams.Interest in agrifood systems, sustainability, or youth empowerment, and willingness to align technical work with policy and social impact goals.Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
