The Opportunity
To support our continued growth, we are seeking an experienced and dynamic Carpenter to join our team. This role involves construction, refurbishment and maintenance works across camp accommodation and site facilities. Work will focus on upgrades, fit-outs and structural improvements, with expectations to work to plans & drawings, and deliver consistent, high-quality outcomes.
This is a casual role on a 2/2 roster, offering FIFO arrangements from Cairns & Brisbane to our Project sit at Amrun, operated by Rio Tinto. Local residents to Weipa will be highly regarded.
**Please note, Amrun runs as a dry camp
About the Role
The Carpenter is responsible for the construction, installation, repair, and maintenance of structures and fixtures made from timber and other materials. The role requires interpreting plans, working to building codes, and ensuring high standards of workmanship, safety, and productivity on site.
Key Responsibilities:
Review drawings and blueprints to determine which materials and installation approach to use
Use power tools to cut and prepare timber and assemble wood to form structures as required
Create building frameworks, floors and roofs, or smaller items like furniture or skirting boards
Fit doors and window frames
Assemble and install prefabricated structures
Install fixtures and hardware such as door handles, locks, insulation material or underlay
Ensure all safety permits & documentation has been signed and correct signage has been erected prior to work commencing
