The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Surveyor to join the autonomous project at Pembroke Resource’s Olive Downs Complex near Moranbah.

Olive Downs is a greenfield project located approximately 40 kilometres south east of Moranbah and commenced mining operations in early 2023. Thiess holds a five year contract delivering full service mining operations, including mine planning, overburden removal, drill and blast, load and haul, water management, rehabilitation and the construction of mine infrastructure.

About The Role

This role operates on an 8/6 roster and reports to the Senior Surveyor. You will provide end to end survey support across site operations, with responsibilities including:

Providing survey support to the Technical Services team and assisting with the mine planning processCapturing, recording and storing survey data in line with project management plansEnsuring all surveying and mine development activities comply with statutory and safety requirementsCompleting daily and weekly mine compliance reportingConducting RPAS drone surveys, scans, photography and incident reportingCompleting end of month pickups and volume calculationsSupporting end of month reconciliation activitiesBuilding strong working relationships with Technical Services teams, including client survey teams

About You

You bring hands on experience in operational mine surveying and are comfortable working in a large scale open cut environment. You will also have:

Experience in a mine surveying role, ideally within open cut operationsA tertiary qualification in surveying or an equivalent disciplineA solid understanding of mining principles, design concepts and operational workflows as they relate to survey activitiesProficiency in Maptek Vulcan and Point Studio or similar survey softwareExperience using photogrammetry software and techniquesCurrent RPAS certificationThe ability to link technical survey outcomes to production and financial resultsA strong understanding of regulatory and legislative requirements within mining operations
