About the role
Position OverviewWe are seeking a qualified and experienced Motor Mechanic to join our workshop team in Mareeba 4880. The successful applicant will be responsible for servicing, diagnosing, maintaining and repairing light motor vehicles to ensure they operate safely, efficiently and reliably.Skills and ExperienceApplicants must have either:A Certificate III or higher trade qualification in Automotive Mechanical Technology, or a closely related field, together with at least one year of relevant work experience; orAt least three years of relevant work experience as a Motor Mechanic.Key ResponsibilitiesThe Motor Mechanic will be responsible for maintaining and repairing vehicles, including petrol engines, transmissions, suspension systems, steering systems, brakes and other mechanical components.Duties· Consult with the Workshop Manager to prioritise and complete scheduled servicing and repair work.· Service and maintain light motor vehicles in accordance with manufacturer specifications.· Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using manual inspections and diagnostic equipment.· Dismantle, inspect, repair and reassemble engines, transmissions, steering, suspension and other mechanical components.· Repair or replace worn, damaged or defective parts, including bearings, hydraulic hoses and batteries.· Tune engines and adjust mechanical systems to improve performance and reliability.· Repair, fit and adjust braking systems.· Test, balance, rotate and align wheels.· Order required parts, lubricants and workshop materials.· Attend vehicle breakdowns and maintain a clean, safe and organised work area.SALARYThe position will attract a salary of $70 000 to $ 85 000 per annum based on candidate’s experience.
