Childcare Cook / Chef Redland Bay

We care about quality — flavour, texture and presentation — and we're looking for a cook who takes pride in getting the details right.

Little Corner is a family-focused early learning service in Redland Bay. Our kitchen is an important part of the day, supporting children's wellbeing and a calm daily rhythm. We're seeking a Cook/Chef who can consistently deliver delicious, child-friendly meals, while confidently meeting allergy and dietary requirements with care and accuracy.

About The Role

You'll lead the day-to-day running of the kitchen and food program, preparing Morning Tea, Lunch and Afternoon Tea. You'll work closely with our leadership and educator team in a great purpose-built kitchen, with clear routines and support to deliver consistent quality.

You'll also take pride in managing the kitchen space — keeping it organised, clean, and ready to run smoothly every day.

This Role Suits Someone Who

• Has strong culinary skills and enjoys cooking nourishing meals children actually eat

• Keeps quality high in volume (taste, texture and presentation)

• Is allergy-aware and detail-focused (portioning, labelling and clean workflow)

• Has experience cooking for children with allergies or willingness to learn through provided training

• Enjoys clear routines and takes pride in following kitchen and food safety processes

• Works calmly, cleanly and efficiently in a childcare environment

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare fresh, nutritious meals daily (Morning Tea, Lunch, Afternoon Tea)

• Cater for allergies, special dietary needs and cultural requirements

• Maintain a wholesome, balanced menu and food routines with consistent quality

• Manage stock ordering and food budgets

• Follow and maintain our Food Safety Plan / Food Safety Program (including temperature control, cleaning schedules, allergen controls and documentation)

• Maintain exceptional hygiene and cleanliness standards (including effective use of the dishwasher)

• Manage the kitchen space (organisation, storage, labelling, workflow and readiness)

• Build positive relationships with children, families and educators

• Contribute to a warm, welcoming centre culture

Essential Criteria

• Food Safety Supervisor Certificate for Childcare (required)

• Gecko Training

• Safe Food Handling Certificate

• Working With Children Check (Blue Card or ability to obtain)

• Ability to work independently and confidently manage a kitchen

• Strong time management and organisation skills

• Knowledge of food safety legislation and procedures

• Experience in an early learning or education setting (highly regarded but not essential)
